History

Approved by March 24, 1867 in St. Petersburg called "the Russian insurance against fire society," and on 30 may of the same year began issuing insurance policies. Under the Charter, the society was established with a basic capital of 2.5 million rubles (50 000 shares with a nominal value of 50 roubles), however, the stock managed to sell five times less. However, the collected capital of 500 000 was enough to almost 40 years of work in fire insurance. Among the founders of the company were not famous people. The initiators of the insurance company are: engineer-captain V. L. Glama, honorary citizen F. L. Gong, first-Guild merchant city of Eysk I. Y. Belousov, captain 2nd rank E. Ukhtomsky, the court counselor N.I. Lehman, and the actual state Councilor A. A. Borneman. A quarter of a century (1884-1909), the company has successfully led L. Z. Lancer. According to the pre-revolutionary researchers, "he managed to raise and strengthen the case so strongly, that during his management of the Affairs of the society a dividend averaging at least 12% of a share"

In 1895 the owners of the Russian companies, increasing the fixed capital up to 1 million rubles, added insurance from fire insurance of transports and removed from the name a combination of "fire". On the eve of the First World war, the share capital was increased to half a million rubles through the additional issue of 5 thousand hundred-ruble shares.

In difficult, often crisis years of the early XX century leaders society, unlike many colleagues on the joint insurance managed to provide a stable operation of the company. Annual shareholder returns ranged from 6% to 18%. The dividend wasn't issued only by the end of 1905. The company's shares are continuously quoted on the St. Petersburg stock exchange, and even in hard times their price does not fall below the nominal value. The volume of transactions the society has taken on the insurance market average position.
