Description

Cardboard, pencil. Original drawing — illustration to the novel by M. Sholokhov "Quiet Don", in excellent condition. Decorated in an old frame with a passepartout with the artist's erroneous initial on the plate ( "In" instead of "Oh"). The size with a frame is 440*570 mm. Guarantee of authenticity.

History

Orest Georgievich Vereysky (July 7 [20], 1915, Anosovo village, Smolensk province — January 2, 1993, Moscow) was a Soviet, Russian painter, graphic artist, illustrator, teacher. People's Artist of the USSR (1983). Laureate of the USSR State Prize (1978). Orest Vereysky was born in the family of the artist Georgy Vereysky and the children's writer Elena Vereyskaya, the daughter of the historian N. I. Kareev. Until 1922 he lived in the village of Anosovo (now Novoduginsky district of the Smolensk region). In 1936-1938, he was a volunteer at the Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. It is in Leningrad that his creative formation as an artist takes place. Here his mentor, besides his father, was the artist and teacher A. A. Osmerkin. He studied with N. A. Tyrsa (1938-1939). Graduated from the Leningrad Institute of Advanced Training of Art Workers (1939). In 1939-1940 — artist of the association "Combat pencil" in Leningrad. In 1940 he moved to live and work in Moscow. During the war he worked in the editorial office of the newspaper "Krasnoarmeyskaya Pravda" of the 3rd Belorussian Front, where he met and became friends with A. T. Tvardovsky. Illustrated books for publishing houses "Detgiz", "Soviet writer", "Fiction"; magazines "Smena" and "Koster" (1935-1940), "Ogonek" (1946-1956). Head of the creative workshop of graphics of the USSR Academy of Sciences (1978-1989).Full member of the USSR Academy of Sciences (1983), corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Sciences (1958). Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR. He died on January 2, 1993 in Moscow. He was buried at the Kuntsevo cemetery.
