The original medal is in excellent condition. Silver, stamping. The diameter is 26 mm. The weight is 10 grams. The obverse of the medal depicts an Orthodox cross surrounded by radiance, standing on a prostrate crescent. To the left of the cross in an arc along the rim, the date of the beginning of the war is indicated — "1828.", and to the right, the date of its completion is indicated in the same way — "1829.". On the reverse side of the medal there is a horizontal inscription in three lines: "FOR THE TURKISH WAR". Along the circumference along the rim — two laurel branches connected at the bottom by a ribbon. The medal is completed with an original ribbon. Guarantee of authenticity.
The medal "For the Turkish War" is a state award of the Russian Empire. It was established in connection with the end of the Russian-Turkish War (1828-1829). The medal "For the Turkish War" was intended to award participants of the Russian-Turkish war (1828-1829). It was established by the decree of Nicholas I of October 1 (13), 1829. The medal was awarded to all those who took part in military operations against Turkey from 1828 to 1829. All generals, officers, lower ranks, both combatant and non-combatant, as well as militia members were awarded. From December 10 (22), 1830, sailors who participated in battles began to be awarded. According to a special imperial decree, this award could be presented until September 1, 1832. In total, approximately 100,000 medals were minted at the St. Petersburg Mint. There are also other variants of the coinage, differing in a number of small details, as well as in diameter. There was a medal of a reduced size: from 20 to 22 mm in diameter, intended for cavalrymen.
