The medal "For Works on the first general population Census" is a state award of the Russian Empire. The medal "For the works of the first General population Census" was intended to award persons who worked gratuitously as enumerators and organizers of the first general population census of the Russian Empire in 1897. The main circulation was made at the St. Petersburg Mint. There are also dress versions of the medal[.
The medal had an eyelet for attachment to a pad or ribbon. The medal should have been worn on the chest. The ribbon of the medal is white—blue-red, in the colors of the flag of the Russian Empire. Such a ribbon was used for the first time in the award business.
