Original and quite rare the in perfect collectible condition. The photo shows the ensign of the 1st Engineering brigade of the Caucasian front with the dagger of the model 1914. During the First world war the right to wear dagger was gradually extended to a quite large number of categories of military personnel, military officials and civil servants of various departments, serving the needs of the army. The proliferation of these weapons contributed to its small size and light weight, low cost, and the lack of need for such a cumbersome weapon as a sword, in the conditions of trench warfare. 23 Aug 1916 all senior officers and military officials, with the exception of chief officers of artillery and cavalry, was assigned, during the war, instead of checkers, the daggers with the right to use the swords at will.
