History

The US Army Military Police Corps (Eng. United States Army Military Police Corps) is a law enforcement structure of the US Army, established in 1941. The corps is headed by the Chief Provo-Marshal of the U.S. Army, who reports to the Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army. The main functions of the US Army Military Police Corps include:



    • protection of important military facilities

    • traffic regulation and support of military transport

    • prevention and suppression of offenses among military personnel, detention of detained military personnel in specially designated places

    • escorting prisoners of war and their detention in specially designated places

    • prevention and suppression of mass riots and looting among the civilian population in their places of deployment

    • interaction with loyal law enforcement and military structures of foreign states in their locations



In the implementation of these functions, the military personnel of the US Army Military Police Corps are authorized to carry out personal search and vehicle inspection, search premises, seizure of items and documents, detention and detention, interrogation, use special means and weapons.
